“And a lot of the early stages was working out, what were your priorities.  Because we, …  we actually tried to pretend it wasn’t all about gay men and drug users, because we thought that people wouldn’t be concerned about it. 

De-gaying AIDS

So we did de-gay AIDS very thoroughly.  And, you know, anyone can get AIDS, AIDS is for everyone, all that, all those slogans, like, ‘Yeah, not really.’  In theory, yes; in practice, what are you doing about gay men?”
