About the project

The team

This project has charted the lived experiences of a unique and profound era of British healthcare history; the AIDS Era.  The project recorded stories and reflections from 61 healthcare workers from across the UK and from a range of different areas of HIV care, in the 1980s and 1990s.

We focus on their many and varied stories: sad, funny, traumatic, uplifting and fulfilling.

About us

The idea for the project came from a group of nurses who were all involved in HIV care during this period.  We knew it was an important time for nursing and the medical profession and that our stories should be captured and archived for future generations.
